The sizing on this dress follows an Asian fit, which runs roughly one to two sizes smaller than US and UK sizing, so take the larger size if you fall between two. Think about height as well: this is a maxi length, and on most people the hem lands at or just above the ankle, so if you are tall it will sit higher than floor length. Finally, the 5% spandex means the fabric moves with you, but it will still follow your shape rather than hide it.
Heeled sandals or boots lift the hem clear of the floor and show the slit. A cropped jacket or a wrap keeps the waistline visible.
