The waist tie is what makes this shirt worth owning twice over. Knotted, it pulls the fabric in and gives the shirt the shape of a wrap top; untied, it hangs straight and reads like a relaxed overshirt. The tie-dye stripe keeps the pattern soft rather than graphic — the colours blend into each other instead of sitting in hard lines, which is why it works as easily with denim as with tailoring. Bell sleeves add movement at the wrist and balance the volume of the body. The fabric is a lightweight weave that drapes rather than holding a stiff shape, and the collar and front placket keep the whole thing anchored in shirt territory rather than tipping into kaftan. Best for:
Soft and a little bohemian. The blended stripe gives the fabric depth, the bell cuffs add flow, and the waist tie breaks up the line so the shirt never looks boxy. In Dark Brown it reads warm and earthy; in Navy Blue it reads crisp.
Tie the waist and wear it with high-waisted jeans and ankle boots for the weekend. Leave the tie loose over wide-leg trousers for a longer, easier line. For work, knot it over straight-leg black trousers and add loafers. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with similar colours, inside out to protect the pattern. Wash separately for the first few washes. Do not bleach. Tumble dry on low or hang to dry. Cool iron on the reverse if needed.
